Caribbean Premier League: Week 3 review

We are three weeks, or to be more specific, 23 matches into the Caribbean Premier League. Here’s a look at how things stand as of now.
Points table: Jamaica Tallawahs are on top of the points table with 13 points. They have played eight games, won six and lost one, with a net run rate of +1.502. Guyana Amazon Warriors are in second spot with 10 points from eight matches, with five wins and three losses and a net run rate of +0.017. St Lucia Zouks are in third place, with eight points from seven matches, with four wins and three losses at a net run rate of -0.050.
Barbados Tridents are placed fourth with seven points. After eight games, they have three victories and four losses at a net run rate of -0.184. Trinbago Knight Riders are fifth with six points from seven matches, with three wins and four losses at a net run rate of -0.102. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are in last spot with two points. Of eight games, they have won one and lost seven at a net run rate of -1.022.
Match-wise update: Jamaica beat Guyana by five wickets in match number 15. Jamaica chased down 129 in the match easily thanks to Shakib-Al Hasan’s 56 not out. Trinbago got the better of Barbados by seven wickets in match number 16. Barbados posted an impressive 172 for 4 batting first, but Colin Munro smashed 68 from 39 in reply to take Trinbago home with ease. Match 17 saw Jamaica thrash St Kitts by 108 runs. Kumar Sangakkara’s 65 from 47 balls took Jamaica to 183. The chasing side folded up for 75 with Kesrick Williams claiming 3 for 19.
Barbados beat St Lucia by 25 runs in match 18. Nicholas Pooran blasted 81 from 39 balls for Barbados as they made 173 batting first. Some good bowling then held St Lucia down to 148. Jamaica defeated Trinbago by 19 runs in game 19. Andre Russell was super for Jamaica. With the bat, he smashed 44 from 24, and with the ball picked up 4 for 23. Match 20 saw Jamaica beat Barbados by 36 runs. Chadwick Walton blasted 97 from 54 in yet another memorable win for Jamaica.

St Lucia beat St Kitts by 35 runs in match 21. Skipper Darren Sammy made 59 from 31 with the bat for St Lucia as they posted an impressive 174 and then held the opponents to 139. In match 22, St Lucia overcame Barbados by seven wickets. Sammy’s 3 for 18 restricted Barbados to 137. The batsmen chased down the target with ease as Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher made 40s. Match number 23 saw St Lucia beat Guyana by nine wickets. Chris Lynn scored 56 for Guyana, but Johnson Charles hit an unbeaten 94 from 52 for St Lucia as they got home with utmost ease.
